The personal story behind Her Garden Co.™ and why helping women and young girls gain access to feminine hygiene products became a mission close to my heart.

People ask me why I started Her Garden Co.™. The truth is, it didn't start as a business. It started with a realization about feminine hygiene. Like many women, I spent years raising children, growing a family, building businesses, and trying to make a difference in every thing I could.

But along the way, I started noticing something that honestly broke my heart. That there are women and young girls across this country who grew up just like me, struggling every month to afford basic feminine hygiene products, and the good stuff , if you know you know. As a once single mother trying to stretch a paycheck. And as a teenager afraid of leaking through my clothes at school hoping I brought enough pads with me to last through my after school job, and praying I had enough to last for the following days...before having to ask my mom, "Mom, I need some more pads".

I know that was a lot! But that was my experience, and that's real life for a lot of women choosing between groceries, gas, medicine, and the products she or her daughter needs. Those situations are real, and the more I learned, the more I realized how common those situations are, and that many women suffer quietly without ever asking for help.

What still hits me hard is remembering my own childhood. I still remember asking my mother, "Why can't we just use food stamps to buy 'em?" She looked at me and said, "I wish we could." At the time, I didn't understand what she meant. But today, I do. I understand access. I understand affordability. I understand the uncomfortable choices some mothers are forced to make every month. Most women never announce these struggles. There's no social media post, no cry for help, no public conversation. They just simply do the best they can with what they have, while carrying burdens people never see, and just maybe, don't even know that this struggle even exists. Not because they don't care, but it just never even crossed their minds.

That's where Her Garden Co.™ began. A place to create something that was more than books, apps, products, and resources. I wanted to create a place that educates, encourages, supports, and gives back.

That's why 15% of every purchase helps support feminine hygiene education and outreach efforts, and why 100% of every donation goes toward giving feminine hygiene products to these same women and girls me and my mother once were. Those in shelters, homeless encampments, local charities, and underserved schools, where they may not even have considered period poverty contributing to a young girl's attendance problem. And to give feminine hygiene educational materials to women and young girls who just didn't know certain things about hygiene.

This mission isn't about politics or trends, it's about people, families...mother and daughters...it's about us. It's about helping a young girl walk into school with confidence, helping a mother breathe a little easier a few months out of the year, and helping remove the shame surrounding conversations about feminine hygiene. At Her Garden Co.™ together, our goal is to give and build a future where woman and young girl don't without the basic feminine hygiene products, and to take the shame away from those much needed feminine hygiene conversations for both women and girls of every age and stage of life.
